Made from Calabrian "Dottato" figs, this compote has a wide variety of uses. Try heating with a small amount of chicken stock and sherry wine to use as a sauce for grilled lamb, or simply enjoy as an accompaniment to cheese boards.
Using an authentic ancient recipe from Calabria, Italy, our producer roasts the figs to develop the sweet, yet complex flavors of the fruit.┬á The recipe uses approximately 18 whole ripe Dottato figs, which are prized for their rich flavor and lack of seeds.┬á The figs are baked in all natural fig leaves, then hand wrapped and tied with decorative raffia ribbon.┬á
