Regular meetings throughout the year are aimed at educating children and adults alike on the value and benefit of Slow Food. The University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy hosted Dr. Henry B. Wainer, President of Sid Wainer & Son to form plans for their mutual involvement in furthering what is clearly destined to be the most powerful significant change in the culinary habits ever to have arrived throughout the world.
Sid Wainer & Son is not only recognized for their international leadership in food safety and sustainable agriculture but is the very first company of its kind to have promoted a highly visible, “Going Green,” effort throughout the entire company. A visit to Sid Wainer & Son’s facility in New Bedford, Massachusetts just south of Boston will reveal farms, greenhouses (the first successful effort at inner-city agriculture in nearly a century) as well as a 300,000 square foot facility with eight different temperature zones housing produce and specialty foods from around the world, and an international kitchen where 12 chefs can demonstrate simultaneously to an amphitheatre seating 50. All of this in addition to a hospitality center which hosts frequent culinary events for chefs and their staffs for 50 – 100 people.
