Sid Wainer & Son, Specialty Produce and Specialty Foods, the only HACCP certified produce company in America, has formed an alliance with Slow Foods International which will have a resounding effect throughout the United States. Sid Wainer & Son has for years represented the goals of the Slow Food Movement; their own Jansal Valley Farms’ have discovered improved methods of farming and harvesting and have offered these methods to farms both local and throughout the country. Sid Wainer’s own international kitchens have hosted hundreds of chefs from around the world to promote Slow Foods and sustainable agriculture. Regular meetings throughout the year are aimed at educating children and adults alike on the value and benefit of Slow Food. The University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy hosted Dr. Henry B. Wainer, President of Sid Wainer & Son to form plans for their mutual involvement in furthering what is clearly destined to be the most powerful significant change in the culinary habits ever to have arrived throughout the world. Sid Wainer & Son is not only recognized for their international leadership in food safety and sustainable agriculture but is the very first company of its kind to have promoted a highly visible, “Going Green,” effort throughout the entire company. The attached feature story was recently published in the leading newspaper in Tuscany. It is just the beginning of a continual climb towards educating and promoting Slow Foods. A visit to Sid Wainer & Son’s facility in New Bedford, Massachusetts just south of Boston will reveal farms, greenhouses (the first successful effort at inner-city agriculture in nearly a century) as well as a 300,000 square foot facility with eight different temperature zones housing produce and specialty foods from around the world, and an international kitchen where 12 chefs can demonstrate simultaneously to an amphitheatre seating 50. All of this in addition to a hospitality center which hosts frequent culinary events for chefs and their staffs for 50 – 100 people. Your visit here will be among the most spectacular culinary experiences you’ll ever have. We have a farmhouse on our very own Jansal Valley Farm for your overnight stay. I’ll be available at your convenience. |
