Henry B. Wainer is president and owner of Sid Wainer & Son Specialty Produce and Specialty Foods. Henry is known worldwide for his leadership in food safety and his international efforts to support farmers. The company was started in 1914 by his grandfather, Henry Wainer, on the historic cobblestone streets of New Bedford, MA. His grandfather was known for sourcing products from the South Coast of New England and distributing them to the restaurants and stores in his region. Those were the days of horse and buggy.

Sid Wainer and Son is the only certified HACCP produce company in America. Both the United States Food and Drug Administration and the United States Department of Commerce conduct random unannounced inspections of Sid Wainer & Son. As part of the Homeland Security Act, the entire facility underwent rigid inspections and interviews for weeks prior to both the Democratic and Republican national conventions to ensure absolute food safety and security measures. This procedure will be repeated for every convention and national event. Sid Wainer & Son’s entire facility, under Henry’s watchful eye, is closely guarded by professional security personnel, thereby further ensuring the security of his products.

Henry has visited a vast amount of farms throughout his travels planning crops with farmers. The Wainer family’s commitment to preserving open farmland was a motivating factor in directing Henry to plan crops with farmers and have the worlds finest produce picked before the sun goes down and delivered before breakfast the next morning.

Several of New England’s finest food writers have referred to Henry as both the “Produce King” and the “Willy Wonka of Produce”. While in Paris, France, the Under Secretary of Agriculture and the French Ambassador to the United States recognized Henry, as he was doing a presentation of edible flowers to Europe’s finest chefs, as well as from around the world, as the only American company promoting international cooperation in the produce industry.

Henry has appeared in countless major newspapers and magazines in the United States. He has been featured in numerous cooking talk shows and appeared on several Food Network shows. Fox international News reported that Sid Wainer & Son is so dominant in specialty produce and specialty foods that the primary reason for foods coming into the United States from the farthest corners of the world is attributed to Sid Wainer & Son. The story was aired in prime-time throughout the United States, as well as in 60 foreign countries.
